How this page works

Each song starts with the original recording. That lets you hear the lyric, melody, structure, and overall spirit of the song as it was first written and presented.

After that, you may hear a few sample versions showing how the same song could be approached in different styles, moods, or arrangements. The point is not to tell you what the song has to be. The point is to open up the possibilities and let you hear what else might be in it.

A good song can wear more than one coat.
